Summary: The present revolves around the past; truth and remembrance are two different things. After the well closes forever,Kagome finds a familiar face in the present era.
Why: This isn't a happy story, and it isn't what I would hope for the characters, if everything were to go the way I want it to. However, it is a story that I can believe. Resmiranda does an amazing job of putting the characters through the wringer and making it a story that you want to read, just to find out how everything's going to end up. This is a darkly captivating view of life after Naraku that will really make you think about what it means to be a survivor.

Summary: Reset, record, rewind. You can always get it right next time.
Why: This story is bleak and depressing and horrifying and completely morbid. Yet somehow, despite all that, it's good. The idea is plausible, the characterization makes sense. Even though I don't like the idea, the way that Resmiranda writes it also makes it a possibility. I wish I say something about this that's less lukewarm, but this is honestly the best I can do. I can't pretend the story makes me happy, but it does make me think and gives me a prespective that I wouldn't have come up with on my own, which is just as valid a reason to read something as entertainment.

Summary: How to win at losing.
Why: Resmiranda does such a good job at writing the Sesshoumaru/Kagome pairing and doing it in a way that I can find plausible. In less than 4,000 words, she manages to shape a relationship and fill in the blanks from the past, a feat that other authors struggle with when using far more words. In this case, she does it by interspersing the present with snippets of the past. It's a style that can be jarring if done the wrong way, but when it's done the right way, as it is here, it flows seamlessly together until time becomes almost irrelevant. This story really is beautiful. Now, don't get me wrong. Although the story focuses on the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Kagome, it is not your traditional romance. Resmiranda tends toward the darker themes of relationships and although this one felt less depressing than others have been, it is still not a happy story. However, I enjoyed this version of Sesshoumaru a great deal, changed by time but still recognizably himself, and as always, Resmiranda's Kagome is superb. If you've never read anything by Resmiranda before and want a nonintensive introduction, this would be a very good place to start.

Summary: Why does Sesshoumaru hate Tenseiga so much?
Why: This story is unadulterated silliness, which may surprise anyone who knows Resmiranda for her darker works. Regardless, she does a wonderful job with it. Her comedic timing really worked for me, and the ending made me laugh outloud. If you're looking for serious entertainment, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a few moments of amusement, this should be just perfect for you.

Summary: On a seemingly normal trip back to the modern era, Kagome suddenly realizes the consequences of playing with the past. In trying to discover a balance between two vastly different worlds, she finds help from the most unlikely of sources.
Why: Once more, I have ventured forth into the world of Inuyasha fanfiction, and once more I have come out with a gem. While I was reading it, this story occupied my attention completely. It's difficult to know what to say that will do it justice.

I guess the best place to start would be characterization. I'll be honest and say that I've never seen much of a connection between Kagome and Sesshoumaru, so when it became apparent that the story was going to heavily involve the two of them, I was skeptical. However, the author does a beautiful job of first creating the situation that brings the two of them together and then letting the relationship flow from there. I know that most would find the Sesshoumaru characterization in particular to be impressive, but I was also very happy with the characterization of Kagome. Her emotions really became clear to me in this story, and they were what made it so effective for me.

The plot of this story is also nothing to scoff at. Although events may seem to be moving slowly at times, they always move with purpose. It is very apparent that the author put a great deal of thought into how the plot should go. This results in a story that captures your attention and holds it for the duration.

In all, this story was a pleasure to read. Now if only I can find more like it!
