Summary: Anzu was never the great friend Yuugi labeled her, but sometimes, real friendship means a lot more than popularity ever will.
Why: Anzu is so often painted as a one dimensional character who does nothing but make friendship speeches that this story was a refreshing change of pace. I really liked this early glimpse of her as a mostly shallow 'popular' girl and I liked seeing her growth throughout the course of the story. I also enjoyed seeing the way Yuugi appears from the outside, to the other kids in his class. It really drove home for me just what he was facing before the series started and made me love him even more. Brilliantly done.
