Summary: Seifer heard the commotion outside the door to the Disciplinary Room, and recognized the voice right away -- Zell, yelling at Nida to let him in, and under that, Nida calmly trying to tell him no, that wasn't a very good idea.
Why: I found this through Tomomichi.

Emotions and the way that he expresses them are such a huge part of who Zell is, and I really thought this story did a great job with that. I liked his anger and his very physical expression of it. Likewise, Seifer likes to make people think that he's done something terrible even when he hasn't necessarily, and this story does a great job with that as well. This is the way that I would love to see both characters written more often. Even though it's short, I liked the feeling of urgency and the way that it felt like a lot more happened than actually did. The ending also made me quite happy for some reason. ;)

Summary: How does a guy from Domino spend his birthday? Jonouchi's spending thisone tied up in a warehouse. Lucky he has some street sense to call upon.
Why: Sometimes, it's nice to read something that doesn't have a greater meaning and is instead simply good fic about a character that you enjoy. For me, this is one of those stories, like a slice of life from after the series. I like the attention to the everyday details here, as well as the way that the authors shows just how self-sufficient Jou actually is. However, despite Jou's self-sufficiency, the author doesn't lose sight of his friendships and how important they are to him. There isn't any deeper meaning to this story, and that's ok. For everyone who enjoys Jounouchi's character, regardless of who he's paired with, this is just a way to spend a little more time with him and remember just what it was that drew you to him in the first place.

Summary: Just after Inuyasha is unsealed, Kaede reflects on her long association with him--and the sudden appearance of Kagome in both their lives.
Why: Sharibet does a wonderful job conveying Kaede's emotions in this. There is loss and longing, but that's not all there is. Although on the surface the subject matter is Kaede's unrequited love for Inuyasha, look a little deeper. In reality, this is just about Kaede: the girl she was and the woman she became.

Summary: Why does Sesshoumaru hate Tenseiga so much?
Why: This story is unadulterated silliness, which may surprise anyone who knows Resmiranda for her darker works. Regardless, she does a wonderful job with it. Her comedic timing really worked for me, and the ending made me laugh outloud. If you're looking for serious entertainment, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a few moments of amusement, this should be just perfect for you.

Summary: How to win at losing.
Why: Resmiranda does such a good job at writing the Sesshoumaru/Kagome pairing and doing it in a way that I can find plausible. In less than 4,000 words, she manages to shape a relationship and fill in the blanks from the past, a feat that other authors struggle with when using far more words. In this case, she does it by interspersing the present with snippets of the past. It's a style that can be jarring if done the wrong way, but when it's done the right way, as it is here, it flows seamlessly together until time becomes almost irrelevant. This story really is beautiful. Now, don't get me wrong. Although the story focuses on the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Kagome, it is not your traditional romance. Resmiranda tends toward the darker themes of relationships and although this one felt less depressing than others have been, it is still not a happy story. However, I enjoyed this version of Sesshoumaru a great deal, changed by time but still recognizably himself, and as always, Resmiranda's Kagome is superb. If you've never read anything by Resmiranda before and want a nonintensive introduction, this would be a very good place to start.
