Why: This is inspired by the 20 Random Facts meme and it's basically a list, but parts of the list have comments. Saying that is probably not the best way to get you to read this. However, at first glance, I had my doubts about this one too, so fair warning. However, I really came away from this with the feeling that the author knows River. The comments of the list items are in perfect River voice, and once you're into it even the items that don't have comments lose their sterile feel because they just so perfect. LizBee also does a great job of saying a lot in a few words, and the result is a powerful piece.

Why: I had a little trouble getting into this one initially. I just couldn't quite see where it was going or why this detail was important. However, I kept reading (obviously) and it's so important I can't even tell you. This is one of those stories that I'm going to slip into my own personal canon and keep close to my heart because that is how much I want it to be true. Not to mention that it's written in brilliant River voice and that the solution is not, imho, unbelievable, and I really think this is my ideal follow-up to Serenity.

Why: I absolutely love the crackiness of Scrubs, both in the show and in the fic. However, isn't it nice to see something different for a change? If you've read any of her Supernatural stuff, you know that b stearns is a talented author, and she doesn't fail in this one. This is definitely a more serious look at JD and Cox and the relationship between them, but it's a look that I really enjoyed. I thought that both JD and Cox were very nicely in character, although I'm sure some could argue differently, and I really enjoyed reading this as a change of pace before I go back to the crack.

If you enjoyed this one, you'll probably also want to know about the sequel, My Follow Up, which follows in the same vein as the first fic, and just wraps things up a little more emotionally.
