Summary: Voldemort's return has caught the attention of more than the Order of the Phoenix. The Spirit World's best are on the case, but can they handle Hogwarts (or Harry) without blowing their cover?
Why: Good crossovers make me so happy. Really, you have no idea. It's like a kind of heaven. "The Best Defense" is a story that I actually started reading years ago, but in true slacker style, I stopped reading it. There was no particular reason for this stoppage. It's just what I do with stories that works in progress, no matter how good the story may be. I'm horrible like that. But enough about me. Let's talk about the story.

This story makes me happy for many reasons. For one, the premise that the crossover is built on is a really good one. It's a premise that works. Likewise, the way that the author has devised to link the two types of magic works very well. The plot itself is engaging, with just the right amount of humor balanced against the more serious happenings of the year. I was fascinated to see the way that the characters from the two fandoms mixed together as well. There was a very good balance of the attention paid to the chararcters from both universes, which I liked since I'm a fan of both. However, if you're only familiar with the Harry Potter aspect of things, the author gives plenty of detail to allow you to read the story and not lose much. Or if you're a Yu Yu Hakusho fan who only knows the basic premise of Harry Potter, you still should manage just fine.

And hey, if you're a fan of series (like I am), this is perfect for you! There's a sequel to this one currently in the works, called A Good Offense that is just as good as the original!

Summary: Thanks to the magic of wizarding portraiture, a fully-canon-compliant happily-ever-after for Remus/Sirius. Twenty years post-war, Messrs. Moony and Padfoot do not constitute a still life.
Why: This story is short, but perfect, and a wonderful set-up for its sequel, which I will be reccing as soon as I finish typing this. I just love this idea, and the author pulls it off with flair. If you're looking for some fun Sirius/Remus to balance out the depressing, this is a good one for you.

Summary: Percy just wants to do his job, not another guy... at least until the portraits of Messrs. Padfoot and Moony take over his office. A tale of one man's badly faltering denial. (sequel to Trompe L'Oeil for Two)
Why: And to follow up on my rec of "Trompe L'Oeil", the sequel! The focus of this story is more on Percy than the Sirius/Remus aspect, although they are still there. The thing I like about this story (beyond the simple fact that it's Percy!), is that it's fun. It's so nice to see a light-hearted future for everyone. Just imagine it. Portrait Sirius and Remus are enjoying a nice reunion and poor Percy finds himself obliged to listen to it. And it keeps happening. And happening. Then he happens to meet up with Oliver, and things get interesting. This story just makes me smile whenever I think about it. I have so much love. ♥

Yes, I've done a horrible job of reccing this. Humblest apologies.
