Summary: Apparently the rumour first originated from Sakura, who gossiped to Ino, who told Chouji, who in turn mentioned it to Hinata in an attempt to distract her from the bag of crisps she was eating at the time.
Why: Penelope-Z does some really amazing crack fic. I think I spent the entirety of this fic either snickering to myself or resisting the urge to reach into the computer screen and smack Kiba on the head (possibly while still making noises which vaguely resembled snickers). Just thinking about this story is enough to bring a smile to my face. In fact, I'm so busy smiling that I can't think of anything coherent to say about this, so here, have an excerpt:

“You know, out of all people in our year, you and Shino remind me of Naruto and Sasuke the most.” Shikamaru mused, raising a thoughtful eyebrow.

“Um,” Kiba said eloquently, suddenly sobering up, as he was caught in a vision of an alternative universe where heartthrob Shino, the last-of-the-Aburame avenger, cackled evilly, as his bugs darkened the sky over Konoha, while Kiba, the village idiot, faced him off with a huge spray can of DDT. His brain attempted to make sense of it, exploded in the process, and gently leaked out of his ears.

Summary: In which Naruto trips over Sasuke, Sasuke turns various different colors, and there is a lot of arguing over the size of crushes. Now with 40% more insults!
Why: I can so see Naruto and Sasuke being like this: Sasuke won't say it, but you know it's true, and anyway, Naruto says it loud enough for both of them. Kaeda really does a great job of capturing both their personalities. Oh, and there are some great lines in here!

Why: Sasuke's approach to 'wooing' Naruto is simply priceless, and the ending teleports this from the realm of highly amusing to amazing.

Summary: Mal comes back from his sale with platinum in his pocket and a pair of dirty stragglers tagging along behind him like lost dogs.
Why: This is a fusion crossover, where the author takes Sam and Dean and transplants them into the Firefly universe, and although you might not think it would work, it really, really does. In fact, it works so well that I'm currently halfway convinced that this Sam and Dean must be wandering around the Firefly universe right now, just waiting to meet up with the crew of Serenity. Subterrain also drew some really interesting parallels between the characters that I absolutely loved, and I have to say that even though I'm not particularly a fan of River/Simon, it worked amazingly well here.

Summary: The First Year Hufflepuffs find out what it really means to be sorted into Hufflepuff.
Why: I really liked this image of Hufflepuff. Ciircee provides some really nice detail to a neglected House and the result is a thought-provoking story.

Summary: Sakura knew why Tsunade didn’t want a virgin on this mission. Things might get out of hand. Acts might be carried out too far. She was glad Kakashi was accompanying her, but right then she wouldn’t have minded the entire population of Konoha.
Why: This story begins with the premise that in order to get close enough to carry out a mission involving a very dangerous man, Sakura must put herself in a very dangerous situation where rape is a real possibility. And because this isn't a fairy tale, things do happen, and there is some non-consensual content in here that I want to make sure everyone takes note of. If this is an issue for you, please take heed and stay away.

Now that you're properly warned...Although parts of this story are dark and it certainly deals with serious issues, that is not the entirety of the story. There is also a great deal of humor, and some really spectacular interactions between Sakura and Kakashi. (Sakura is 17 in this, by the way.) I wouldn't say I'm a fan of this pairing, but the author writes it so well that I don't even care. She also does a really great job of handling a myriad of other issues that would definitely come up if Kakashi and Sakura were to actually get together, including but not limited to their former status as teacher and student, Kakashi's intimacy issues (we all know he has them) and Sakura's own romantic notions. I feel like there really wasn't ever a dull moment. The pacing is wonderful, and the entire story captivated me. And even though I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'll be seeking out this pairing in the future, I think I'll definitely look at it a little less warily for having read this.
