Summary: Somewhere else, the happy ending was different.
Why: This is one of those AUs that always makes me sit back and wonder why I couldn't ave thought of such a great idea. In this case, afrai switches things up by making Aziraphale the one to fall, and Crowley the one to remain an angel. Now, fair warning, this isn't a happy story. However, afrai does a wonderful job of following through on the premise, taking an unflinching look at the implications of the alternate universe that she's created. Even though this story made me cry, I don't regret reading it for a minute.

The Sacred and the Profane by afrai

I'm linking to an index page of this story instead of the first chapter like I usually do. That's because I want to point out the flashfic that are located at the bottom of the page. If you enjoyed the main story, the flashfic are definitely worth a read, and if you're left feeling a little depressed, I would definitely recommend you read the one that is set after the ending of "The Sacred and the Profane." It helped me feel better, and it just might help you too.

Summary: Aziraphale's been hauled back to Heaven to help deal with the backlog of souls. His first case: Ms Anya Jenkins.
Why: I'm actually reccing both "Let's Go Round Again" and its sequel "Let's Go Round Again and Again and Again" because if you don't like the first, you definitely won't like the second, which stopped just short of pushing things too far for me, and probably will go a bit too far for some other people. The humor's kind of cracktastic in these, but I really like the idea of Aziraphale and Anya having this sort of face-off: Anya wants a good reincarnation, and Aziraphale wants Anya out of his hair. And then things just keep going wrong...The author shows a lot of creativity in the different reincarnations, and there are actually a lot more fandoms involved than the ones I've indicated, but figuring out where Anya's ended up now is part of the fun. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise!

Summary: An unexpected mix-up helps Aziraphale and Crowley learn more about the other.
Why: In which Crowley and Aziraphale switch bodies in a cosmic accident. ...Are you still here or have you already clicked on this? Well, if you're still here, I guess I'll tell you a little more. Not only does the author have the style and characters down, she's clever! Not to mention that there's hot sex! Yes, this story warrants the two exclamation points. I had so much fun snickering my way through this story that I really can't recommend it enough.
