Fandom: Good Omens
Pairings/Characters: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: PG-13
Wordcount: 34,500
Warnings: dark themes
Author: afrai
Website: musical comedies without the music
Summary: Somewhere else, the happy ending was different.
Why: This is one of those AUs that always makes me sit back and wonder why I couldn't ave thought of such a great idea. In this case, afrai switches things up by making Aziraphale the one to fall, and Crowley the one to remain an angel. Now, fair warning, this isn't a happy story. However, afrai does a wonderful job of following through on the premise, taking an unflinching look at the implications of the alternate universe that she's created. Even though this story made me cry, I don't regret reading it for a minute.
The Sacred and the Profane by afrai
I'm linking to an index page of this story instead of the first chapter like I usually do. That's because I want to point out the flashfic that are located at the bottom of the page. If you enjoyed the main story, the flashfic are definitely worth a read, and if you're left feeling a little depressed, I would definitely recommend you read the one that is set after the ending of "The Sacred and the Profane." It helped me feel better, and it just might help you too.
